for Wind Quintet (2013)
In 2011 Matt Kish released a book that consists of 552 drawings, one for each of the 552 pages of Hemran Melville's Moby Dick. Matt Kish chose a single line from each page to base his own drawing on. One of these drawings acts as the stimulus for my own piece. The name of my piece is the quote chosen as the basis of the drawing (Seen on the right).
The music aims to accompany and compliment the drawing, possibly highlighting aspects that a viewer may not initially perceive. I wish to supply a sonic backdrop in order to allow full appreciation of Matt Kish's work.
